Klabin is honored in Paraná Climate Seal’s Gold category
Certificate recognizes voluntary initiatives by companies regarding emissions and reduction of greenhouse gases
Curitiba, November 27, 2017 – Klabin, Brazil’s leading producer and exporter of packaging paper, and the only company in the country to offer solutions in hardwood, softwood and fluff pulp, has received the Paraná Climate Seal in the Gold category for the third consecutive year. The seal recognizes the efforts made by companies that voluntarily prepare inventories of their greenhouse gas emissions and adopt measures to reduce them.
Instituted by the State Government of Paraná, the recognition stimulates the culture of publishing these documents by companies located in the state and, thus, encourages companies to reduce their emissions. The Gold Seal is given to companies whose inventories were audited by professionals or companies accredited by Brazil’s National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) and by the State Department of Environment and Water Resources.
The awards ceremony, held this month at the Industry Campus of the Fiep System in Curitiba, recognized 26 companies. Participants included the state environment secretary Antônio Carlos Bonetti, the executive secretary of the Paraná Forum for Global Climate Change José Rubel, the president of Fiep Edson Luiz Campanholo and representatives of participating companies.
Klabin is the largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging in Brazil, its only company offering one-stop solutions in hardwood, softwood and fluff pulp, and the leader in corrugated board packaging and industrial bags. Founded in 1899, it has 17 industrial units in Brazil and one in Argentina.
With its entire management guided by sustainable development, Klabin pursues integrated and responsible growth that combines profitability, social development and environmental commitment.
