Klabin’s Grow Up Reading Project for students in city schools in Piracicaba

Piracicaba, October 16, 2015 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of Paper, promotes the Grow Up Reading Project in Piracicaba to encourage children up to six years of age to read. Developed in partnership with the NGO United Way Brasil and Instituto Avisa Lá, the initiative works to train teachers, donate reading nooks with an archive of 450 books and hold storytelling workshops for parents and Klabin volunteers. In Piracicaba, in addition to professionals from schools involved in training, more than 230 students from the João Nascimento City School, located in the Santa Terezinha neighborhood, will benefit from the initiative.

“It is with great satisfaction that we are able to offer these children access to reading, a transformational learning instrument,” said Rogério Vinagreiro, Industrial Manager of the Klabin Unit in Piracicaba.

Overall, the Grow Up Reading Project has benefitted 19 cities in the seven states where Klabin operates. The initiative has influenced more than 1,500 children and by the end of 2015, the Company expects to expand the initiative to a total of 3,400 students.

O projeto, inaugurado no dia 11 de novembro de 1959, se mantém em operação até hoje, e possui capacidade para 32 passageiros por cabine, em um percurso de 1.318 metros que leva 3 minutos e 40 segundos.
