Klabin opens registrations for new Pitch Day
Open innovation program aims to attract startups and suppliers that offer solutions to reduce plastic packaging of products that reach the Company
São Paulo, January 14, 2019 – Klabin, Brazil’s leading producer and exporter of packaging paper and the country’s only company to offer a one-stop shop solution for hardwood, softwood and fluff pulp, today opened registrations for one more edition of its “Klabin Pitch Day.” This time, the open innovation program seeks to attract suppliers and startups that offer solutions to reduce the plastic packaging of materials – raw materials or items for maintenance, repair and operations – that reach the company.
The initiative mainly focuses on encouraging the adoption of sustainable solutions across the supply chain, bringing current suppliers and new partners together to think of options that reduce waste generation, thereby helping to preserve the environment and adapting themselves to a global trend.
“The action strengthens Klabin’s Research, Development and Innovation front. The open connection with partners, adopted in the Pitch Day format, enables contact with new alternatives that help us to overcome important challenges that is necessary for the development of the Company,” said Renata Freesz, Innovation manager.
The company wants to ensure compliance with sustainable consumption and production standards, which is one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12). In 2016, Klabin voluntarily adhered to the SDGs in order to mobilize government authorities, companies and civil society around a global agenda with 17 goals for a sustainable trajectory.
“Innovation and sustainability are two of Klabin’s main pillars. We have been strongly investing in research and development in order to offer increasingly sustainable products,” said Júlio Nogueira, Sustainability and Environment manager at Klabin. “In this regard, it is only natural that we invite our partners to think about this theme so that they are included in jointly building a sustainable future,” Renata concluded.
“Klabin Pitch Day – Reduction of plastic packaging” is targeted at the company’s current suppliers, new partners and startups. Those interested in participating should fill out the form available at bitly.com/klabinpitchday by February 8. All proposals will then be analyzed and those selected for the program will be invited to the Pitch Day, which will be held at the end of February in Ortigueira, Paraná.
