Our Digital Language Program
To improve written and oral communications skills, with the support of new information and communication technologies (TIC’s). That is the main purpose of Our Digital Language Program, which is offered to the children of Klabin employees, in the Vera Lafer Cultural Center at the Monte Alegre Plant.
Implemented in the first half of 2009, the program is run in conjunction with the Jaborandi Institute, a non-governmental organization with head offices in São Paulo (SP), and is designed to improve the formal and informal education of adolescents and youngsters.
Our Digital Language is broken down into two periods each with 64 hours’ duration and two weekly meetings of two hours each.
In the first, aimed at adolescents from 13 to 15 years old, the focus is on the themes “Me, Us and the World”, “My Body, my Health” and “The Human being and the Planet”. The second, in which youngsters aged from 15 to 18 participate, revolves around the topics “Identity and cultural diversity”, “Media, behavior and health” and “Work and Citizenship”.
Readings, participation in debates and group dynamics, production of texts for electronic journals and magazines, blogs and digital photo-novels are some of the activities carried out by the participants in the Cultural Center’s IT workshop.
Every six months, about 80 students graduate from the program, which has the
Ministry of Education’s seal of quality and is recommended by the 1st Directory of Educational Technologies, published by MEC.
