Volunteer Work

The Terra Viva Volunteers’ Association, established in 2003 as a non-profit entity, is a tool to encourage and organize the company’s volunteer actions. Klabin draws on an established annual budget to allocate funds every month, whereas the employees and suppliers make spontaneous donations. Participants include employees and their relatives from the towns of São Paulo (SP) and Jundiai (SP), Telemaco Borba (PR), Feira de Santana (BA), São Leopoldo (RS), Otacilio Costa, Correia Pinto and Lages (SC) and Ponte Nova (MG).

In 2008, it held a number of campaigns to collect materials (books, food and warm clothing) on behalf of social institutions registered by the entity. It also backed culture and music, promoting cultural events with visits to the theatre and parks for children, the elderly and people with special needs, as well as sponsoring guitar lessons for children given by a volunteer in a state school from the São Leopoldo community with instruments which were donated by Terra Viva.

Another important initiative was the campaign for blood donations in the offices and manufacturing plants which attracted significant support from employees. Occasional campaigns were also promoted for festivities in several communities close to Klabin which brought benefits to more than 2.8 thousand children on Childrens’ Day and 1.7 thousand people at Christmas time, among whom were children, the elderly and people with special needs.
