Klabin’s industrial activities have incorporated clean production Technology, such as elemental chlorine in the pulp bleaching process in the Monte Alegre plant, in Parana. The company has invested in the rational use of resources and in control of atmospheric emissions, thereby diminishing the effects of production processes on the environment.
Today, only 14.9% of the energy used by Klabin comes from non-renewable sources.
In 2005, the company substituted fuel oil for natural gas in the boilers of the Guapimirim plant in Rio de Janeiro, which reduced GHG (Greenhouse Gases) emissions by up to 26%.
