Global Compact

In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, Klabin adhered to the Global Compact in 2000, as the result of an appeal to the private sector by the then secretary-general of the United Nations, Kofi Annan for companies to contribute to the pursuit of a more sustainable global economy, while respecting the ten principles of sustainability. These principles cover human rights, work and environment and anti-corruption measures.

Currently, the Global Compact has 5.2 thousand signatories worldwide. Simultaneously and in alignment with the Global Compact, Klabin supports the Eight Development Objectives of the Millennium, a challenge to be met by 2015 through concrete actions on the part of governments and society. Eight commitments have been established: Eradication of hunger and poverty; good quality education for all; no discrimination; reduction of infant mortality; health of pregnant women; fight against disease; quality of life and respect for the environment; work for everyone.
