In order to operate in a highly competitive segment, Klabin has consistently invested in product and process innovation, which includes re-engineering materials, distribution channels, packaging systems and servicing.
All the paper used to make boxes is produced by Klabin itself, both in virgin fiber paper as in recycled paper, which is a guarantee of the raw material. Currently production of corrugated boxes and recycled paper made by Klabin can be sold with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) trademark.
The company’s converting plants have the technology to produce boxes with a wide variety of corrugated board, from bigger flutes such as A, B and C down to micro-flute. Some of these flutes can be combined to offer a broad range of end uses and strengths. Furthermore, Klabin works with different treatments to increase thermal resistance of the boxes, to protect them against moisture and to prevent fat penetration. For the transport and storage of food products, Klabin only uses paper free of contamination.
Flexography is the most widely used form of printing for corrugated packaging, but Klabin also uses offset printing with specialized partners. Flexo printing in up to 4 colors yields surprising results, both fast and economical. The use of combinations with color mixtures increases the variety of colors and tones obtained from the four basic colors, ensuring that the expected results with the box are easily achieved. Furthermore, Klabin works with atoxic inks, which are ideal for food packaging.
With a focus on its customers’ needs, Klabin develops all kinds of packaging solutions to meet the challenges presented by the most varied specifications and requirements. For this purpose, Klabin maintains a team of top level professionals and high technology laboratories, researching and developing new products to meet the growing demands from the market in an innovative, coherent, customized and differentiated way.
More than merely supplying products, Klabin endeavors to act as a consultant in packaging solutions. The Packaging Systems division sets up automatic box erection processes in the customer’s plant, using equipment which can be integrated with his production line.
Packaging systems provide the means for the customer to become more competitive by increasing productivity, reducing costs and accelerating the manufacturing process.
Klabin’s technical assistance guarantees full assistance to its packaging users, according to the criteria determined by the needs of the customers. To assure this, a technical team makes preventive visits and follows up on both pilot lots and commercial lots.
Klabin provides training in handling, storage and transportation to help its customers get the most from their boxes. Klabin’s technicians go to customers’ plants to train teams who will be directly involved with the boxes.
