Klabin contributes to various institutions with links to the communities of the regions, where its industrial plants are installed, either through financial donations, awareness campaigns or donations of products. In 2009, the company supplied 29 thousand corrugated boxes for use in the Warm Clothing Campaign, an initiative of the Solidarity Fund of Social and Cultural Development of the State of São Paulo.
Klabin makes annual contributions to the Association of Parents and Friends of Those with Special Needs (APAE) of Telemaco Borba (PR), to which it allocates both financial funds and materials to make handicrafts. Another institution receiving benefits from the company is Childhood Brazil, the Brazilian arm of the World Childhood Foundation. Klabin’s support has enabled this institution to print and distribute 4 thousand copies of the “Surf Safely” brochure, alerting parents to the risks of using the Internet. The company also donates to asylums, orphanages, common interest and community groups.
Klabin’s concern with education is evident from its donations to schools and entities in different regions of the country. One of them is the ABC Foundation which invests its funds in scientific surveys, infrastructure and administration. The Foundation runs social actions in the fields of Education, Health and Social Assistance to children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, people with special needs and the needy in the São Paulo towns of Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo, São Caetano do Sul and Diadema.
In the city of São Paulo, the company contributes to the Baroneza de Limeira Nursery and Unibes – União Brasileiro-Israelita do Bem-Estar Social. In Rio de Janeiro (RJ), the Roda Viva Association Project and Santa Rita de Cassia Social and Professional Works both receive support.
In the field of health, Klabin allocates funds to hospitals, institutes, learning centers, associations dedicated to research, surgeries and rehabilitation activities. Examples of this initiative are support for the hospitals Santa Clara in Otacilio Costa and Faustino Riscarolli in Correia Pinto, both in Santa Catarina.

Among the entities benefited are: Centro de Ensino e Pesquisas do Pró-Cardíaco (Procep), do Rio de Janeiro (RJ); Pró-Criança Cardíaca, do Rio de Janeiro (RJ); Instituto da Tiroide (Indatir), with headquarters in São Paulo (SP), but active in national and international events; Lar da Caridade – Hospital do Fogo Selvagem (Uberaba, MG); Associação de Assistência à Criança Defeituosa (AACD), active in São Paulo, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro; Associação Pró-Matre, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ); Associação de Assistência à Criança Cardíaca e Transplantada do Coração (ACTC), in São Paulo; Associação Civil Anima (São Paulo, SP), Associação Brasileira Beneficente de Reabilitação (ABBR), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ); and Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Hospital Albert Einstein, in São Paulo (SP).
Klabin’s Singing Girls’ Choir is a socio-cultural project run at the Monte Alegre Plant in Parana, which contributes to the practice of ethical and moral values and is principally for the daughters of the Company’s employees. Established in August 2004, the group is composed of 76 girls of ages between 7 and 16 years. With a varied repertory, they have given presentations in several towns in the States of Parana, São Paulo and Santa Catarina for a total public of over 5 thousand people.
Klabin also sponsors other artistic and cultural initiatives such as the project “Cresci na Mangueira” from the audiovisual producer Bossa Nova Films and the documentary “Doce Brasil Holandês”, made for TV by M. Schmiedt Produções, with release in September 2009.
The company also made donations to MASP (Assis Chateaubriand Art Musem of São Paulo), used in the project of MASP 2007 – Annual Plan for the museum’s general maintenance. SAM National Mube – the Society of Friends of Museums – received a donation in 2008, via the Rouanet Law, for the museum’s conservation, maintenance and activities. The foundations set up by the sisters Eva Klabin and Ema Gordon Klabin also received benefits to maintain an important collection of art and rare books.
