The Terra Viva Volunteers’ Association, a non-profit entity established in 2003, is a means of encouraging and organizing voluntary actions within the company. Klabin allocates funds every month from an established annual budget, whereas employees and suppliers make donations by participating in a number of campaigns launched throughout the year.
There are over 260 people, including employees and their relatives, who generously dedicate their time, work and knowledge to improving the well-being of their fellows. They are spread around the towns of São Paulo, Jundiai and Angatuba (SP) Telemaco Borba (PR), Feira de Santana (BA), São Leopoldo (RS), Itajai, Otacilio Costa, Correia Pinto and Lages (SC).
In 2010 the Association ran several campaigns to collect materials (food, warm clothing, glasses frames and other items) on behalf of social institutions registered by the entity. It also supported both culture and music, by promoting cultural events including trips to the theater and parks for children, the elderly and those with special needs.
Another important initiative was the campaign held in July which raised funds on behalf of the victims of the rains in the Northeast. Hygiene and cleaning products, biscuits and milk were handed out to those who had been forced to leave their homes in Pernambuco.
The campaign to donate blood, which was launched in the offices in conjunction with the Pro Sangue Foundation and the Faria Lima Square condominium in September and which enjoyed expressive participation by Klabin’s employees, is also a part of Terra Viva’s sporadic campaigns. This year, 83 bags of blood were collected.
Other occasional campaigns were also held, such as festivities in a number of communities where Klabin is active, and brought benefits to more than 700 people, including children, the elderly and those with special needs.
